2014-2019 Corvette C7 Brakes
2014-2019 Corvette Brake Pads, Rotors and Brake Upgrade Kits
The C7 Chevrolet Corvette, depending upon trim level and option codes, can come with any of a variety of brake systems. They're all good -- don't get too caught up in JL9 vs J55 or J56 vs carbon ceramic unless you're a serious autocrosser or track-day regular. Your Corvette's brakes, as they came from the factory, are a great basis for mild to moderate brake upgrades. You can opt for better brake fade resistance, a firmer pedal or, as with many C7 Corvette owners, lower dust or less noise.
Before you start shopping for brake pads, brake rotors or upgrade kits for your 2014-2019 Corvette C7, you have to make sure you understand exactly what brakes your Corvette has behind those wheels. If you're a Corvette enthusiast, you probably already know the brake code. But if you're new to Corvettes or you haven't immersed yourself in GM option codes like we have, go read our Corvette C7 brake code guide. It'll give you a sense not only of what your brakes are, but also what upgrade paths exist among higher (and lower) specification Corvettes.
Once you fully understand what brakes your 2014-2019 Corvette has, it's time consider what kind of Corvette brake pads you want: Compounds include ceramic, semi-metallic and organic, among others. We tend to group brake pads by performance category to make it easier, though. You can pick pads that line up with how you like to use your Corvette and not worry about what they're made of -- you'll get the performance you're looking for from brands like Hawk, EBC and AC Delco. Brake rotors fall into similar categories -- basic iron rotors, slotted rotors for better gas dissipation, cryogenically treated brake rotors for longer life...the list goes on. And, if you're ready to go all the way with your C7 Corvette's brakes, a Wilwood big brake system or similar total brake package can change the characteristics of your Corvette completely!
